A Nation Celebrates. Miss Loi Bemoans Her Fate!

(18)
Posted at 2:52 pm by Miss Loi in Miss Loi the Tutor

As if we haven’t been reminded enough, again and again, today is the day a nation celebrates its 42nd Birthday.

Being the first long weekend since May, today is also the day where patriotic Singaporeans leave the country in droves to spread the word of this joyous occasion overseas.

Being so close to the prelims, today is also the day where private tutors like Miss Loi rush around the country to give extra/make-up lessons, always having to make sure she doesn’t get caught in the annual NDP trafffic jam.

BUT never, ever would she have imagined that today is the day where she gets a NDP ticket!

Miss Loi's NDP Ticket

Thank you Sergeant Ang, for giving Miss Loi a NDP ticket, even though she didn’t apply for one. Where’s your holiday spirit, if it exists at all?

Happy National Day Everyone. Tsk.

The Temple Gates Are Closed

(13)
Posted at 11:01 pm by Miss Loi in Miss Loi's Temple

Miss Loi is shedding tears! Woe to this day! For it shall forever go down in the Annals of Time as the day The High Priestess, with an aching heart, pulled the lever that swung shut the heavy Temple Gates, much to the dismay of the massed ranks of LMBFH Syndrome sufferers beyond.

As if the heavens share the pain of this tragic event, a light rain began to fall, drowning out the torturous cries of those stranded in the plains of Novena. Miss Loi knelt to the floor, as a river of tears smothered the once-divine lights radiating from her face.

The fight for the Cause has been long and hard. In the dark months following the Release of the Mid-Year Results, The Temple Gates were open as long as they could, taking in and caring for all fleeing the ravages of the LMBFH Syndrome, including those labeled ‘incorrigible’, ‘hopeless’, those with the poorest of poor grades, and even the enigmatic Privatus Candidatii.

But alas, the weight of this great burden has finally caught up with her slight shoulders. With only one Miss Loi around, there is a severe shortage of personnel within the Order of the Temple to tend to the needs of the sufferers.

The endless tide of Mathematical refugees meant that Miss Loi’s humble little sanctuary of hope is now bursting at the seams, and more importantly she is unable to minister the required joss sticks and maximum tender loving care to any more wishing to pass through The Gates.

With the imminent battle against the evil Dark Lord Preliminario looming, a painful decision was made to close the Temple Gates for now, so that the Venerable Miss Loi can focus on preparing her existing charges for the upcoming onslaught.

To those of you currently stranded in the plains, Miss Loi feels your pain and suffering. But despair not! For you have her word that The Temple Gates will be reopened once the Dark Lord is defeated, just before the final showdown with the Ultimate Enemy. And defeat him we shall!

Prepare for battle!

Jφss Sticks Featured on The Young Businessman

(2)
Posted at 7:05 pm by Miss Loi in Miss Loi the Tutor

The wispy smoke of Miss Loi’s sweetly-scented joss sticks must have found its way to The Young Businessman, did a little dance of seduction around his paralysed body, released its therapeutic effects upon his weakened senses, and ultimately performed a little Jedi mindtrick on his defenceless consciousness, imploring him to …

Tada! Miss Loi is pleased to announce that Jφss Sticks has just been featured on The Young Businessman’s Local Entrepreneurs Series!

Are you an Entrepreneur that blogs?

Strange choice of words in the write-up aside (i.e. what’s detailed jot???), Miss Loi has always been mightily impressed by the way this Sweet Young Thing promotes his blog and his upcoming ebook.

Instead of being like one of those morons who barge into everyone’s comment box, MyBlogLog account etc. to leave irritating spammy messages like “Hi you have a fantastic blog. Hope you can comment on my blog and join my community, fave me, whatever” (you get the idea), he started several initiatives like designing ads for unwitting entrepreneurs (and startling them), showcasing unwitting entrepreneurs in his blog (and startling them), and most notably starting the recent Ping.sg Ad Craze (and startling everyone there).

At the end of the day, everyone gets some form of exposure. Win-win. Which is brilliant. Beats whatever “Hope you can comment on my blog and join my community” crap hands-down.

So these are his words:

I hope everyone who is an entrepreneur and blogs, regardless what you blog, submit a brief description of you and your business in my comment box. I will personally review your blog and email you to ask 1 simple question. If you can provide me with the answer, you and your blog will be on the way to history to be showcased in the new ebook that I am going to create for specially these blogging entrepreneurs.

Let’s head over and lend some support shall we?

Merchandising The Cure In Singapore THANK YOU Bob & Co for your wonderful, wonderful gig in Singapore last night. To say that you were AWESOME is an understatement.

THANK YOU for bringing us back to the years, when you led us away from the mainstream, when school was only half-day, when too many lazy days were spent listening to your songs (dubbed on super-duper high-quality chrome cassette tapes), when tragic hairdos was the order of the day (apparently it still is), when your songs reverbrated in our heads when we had our first crush …

THANK YOU for your brilliant, brilliant setlist. Incredibly you played almost all from my list, ignoring an entire generation of emo jam ‘n hop-going fans in the process! It was hard believing some were actually first heard more than two decades ago.

Ping.sg Advertisement – Meet Miss Loi

(15)
Posted at 9:04 pm by Miss Loi in Study Break

There’s currently a mini ad campaign started by the sweet guy who did the so-very cute ad for Miss Loi. It basically calls for Ping.sg members to create an ad for themselves (within certain rules), thereby promoting Ping.sg at the same time.

Now Miss Loi is never a regular at Ping, and never could find time off her intensive tuition schedule for their meetups and camwhoring activities (sometimes she really thinks she’s too old for these things :P ).

And even though Miss Loi is never one to blindly follow fads and trends, she was sufficiently intrigued by some of the cool ads put up by various members (admittedly, some of them looked like they’ve just bumped into ghosts) that she decided to join in the fun as well.

Hope she’s not too late for this:

Ping.sg Advertisement - Meet Miss Loi

Of course Miss Loi, with her prehistoric Photoshop skills, couldn’t have created this. These were the instructions she gave Trusty Webmaster when she demanded begged requested (in a sweet voice) for his help:

Your advertisement must meet these criterias:
Size: 600 X 450 pixels
Font: Microsoft Sans Serif, 36, Strong
Font Colour: White
Phrase: Meet XXX. He/She just got Pinged. Have you?

A Ping.sg logo must always be at the top your picture.
