Miss Loi’s Temple is Under Water!

(28)
Tuition given in the topic of Miss Loi's Temple aka Joss Sticks Tuition Centre from the desk of Miss Loi at 8:12 pm (Singapore time)

Updated on

Folks, Miss Loi presents to you the following tragic scenes from The Temple – scenes reminiscent of students struggling to make their way to school in some flooded Third-World country.

During a freak shower at around half-past four yesterday, rainwater burst through the roof of The Temple, which you’d probably guessed by now is situated at the top floor of some building.

It happened at the time when the 3pm joss sticks session was coming to an end, when a student went to the toilet to “fix her hair”, and ended up getting her hair “fixed” by the shower on her way back to the classroom.

It was also the time when students began arriving for the 5pm joss sticks session, most of whom went absolutely berserk at the chance of playing in the rain indoors for the very first (and probably last) time ever in their lives.

Indeed, one student was even observed to be “dead serious” as she solemnly took pictures of the entire proceedings. This is the same student whom “dead serious” were the last words one would ever use to describe her in class.

Thankfully, apart from a few moldy carpets nothing of importance was lost to the flood. However Miss Loi rues the irreversible damage done to The Temple’s treasured ema board that contained the priceless O-Level wishes of her 2007 students.

Temple Ema

Before.
Lost To The Flood

After.

Ironically it’s probably a good time to introduce the new Temple Annexe, which is the room the girls disappeared into in the second video, which was fortunately unaffected by the flooding. This has been Miss Loi’s main classroom for quite some time now, but she didn’t blog about it yet as she wanted to wait till the grand signage is put up … well …

In any case, all parents and students have been informed. From the bottom of her heart, Miss Loi is really sorry to all that were affected by what happened. But at the same time, she’s touched and grateful for all the support that kept the joss sticks burning and allowed lessons to continue yesterday and today.

***

But that’s not the end of it.

When she walked back to her car, she found that the open-air car park had been flooded as well, with floodwaters soaking the entire floorboard of her car! And now all the textbooks, worksheets and stationery inside the car are wet!

Soaked To The Flood Drenched By The Flood

Wah office flooded! Now car also flooded! What a dramatic day with the rain! What a ‘Good’ Friday weekend!

Maybe she should just go find someplace and cry. 😥 😥 😥 😥 😥

頑張って!!!

wah piang, world class construction takes a beating? Time to get some legal eagle in to strike where it matters.

Wow hope you can get some compensation for your damage. After all, it *IS* a place of your business, and not having serviceable business premises could allow you to sue for "loss of income" or some other business-related issues if you wanted to.

Also, you should have used Vimeo instead of Youtube.

Then the full impact of the whole scene would be felt. Youtube gives you sucky resolution. Vimeo allows your video to be viewed in High Definition 🙂

Fat4, yeah world-class construction indeed. But to be honest, the rain yesterday was rather ... freaky. The rain lasted just under an hour and it was bright sunshine prior to this. 🙁

FoxTwo, doubt that Vimeo will be able to take advantage of the 'high quality' of the original videos. Wee you looking for some clues in the videos???

Hai-Ren: Thanks. Miss Loi feels for herself too. Sigh.

Soup: Already having bad hair days, dun wanna ruin it further.

Cris: Know anyone that can clean and sanitize car floorings? Still thinking of whether to 'rewrite' those ruined students' wishes. Such a waste don't you think? 🙁

    Precious, thanks for your wishes.

As mentioned, there's a new Annexe at the place which escaped the 'flood' - so thankfully Jφss Sticks will not be extinguished and lessons will still go on as usual.

Gotta get those carpets changed though.

    I'll ask around.. 🙂
its not worth the efforts rewriting it out. Next time probably invest in a mini laminating machine to laminate all the wishes lor.. Besides, I bet at tour requests, your students are willing to write any amount of wishes for you! Haha..

Oh my gosh! The damages look bad. The building management will have to do something about the roof and also compensate for the damages and lost of income too. Hope you've got insurance coverage for the business.

Hope the rainy days are over.

FoxTwo: Oh really? Maybe this is a good reason to invest in a video cam.

Cris: Umm ... Miss Loi is just a maths tutor, not a psychology tutor who can control the minds of students!

Claud: Yes, hence the long discussion that took place this morning. Oh and meanwhile, storm clouds are gathering over Novena again, much to the apprehension of everyone at the office ...

*Hugs back nicole* So far, this seems to be a year of woes ... with traffic fines and what not. *Goes and buy 4D of office unit #, car #, traffic fine serial # etc.*

ECL & Blabberer: One of you said water brings in wealth. Another said water washes away bad luck. So hopefully it will do both this time.

In any case, you're right - must always look on the bright side.

    HUAT AH!!!

Hey Ah Bengz, just because Miss Loi always go JB to do her hair doesn't mean she's handicapped to the point she can't wash her own hair at home okay!

BTW, the carpets have been 'refreshed' and dried and now the classroom smells like some aromatherapy chamber 😉
